In Americas other major wars where "negotiated settlements" were made;
these were not wars against outright terrorists... It's sad that we've
reached a point where our political leaders "negotiate with terrorists."
How we handled this war was not right, for we did not prepare properly
and we did not even bother to understand the enemies mindset, or their
ideology before we went into Afghanistan. And how we end this war,
through negotiations with the Taliban, will only cause more problems for
our future... The political leaders are thinking of making things look
"good" for the present, without considering the mess left for the future
leaders to deal with, and our children to deal with.

"Obama will likely face criticism, including from Republican
presidential candidates, for dealing with an insurgent group that has
killed U.S. soldiers and advocates a strict Islamic form of government."
"But U.S. officials say that the Afghan war, like others before it, will
ultimately end in a negotiated settlement."
We have fallen far, and we're still falling...
