People have heard the expression "being in the gray area". Do we know
what this means anymore when it comes to our alliances with other
nations?
George Washington would turn over in his grave if he were to see the
nations we call allies these days. He warned against having a long term
alliance and funding outside nations, and he warned about the potential
corruption in our nation caused by such alliances. Today we send more
money to those who should be considered enemies then we do those who
treat us like an ally should.
Afghanistan wants more money from us when it comes to helping them
rebuild their nation, and our Commander and Chief wants to provide these
funds... What is the point? When President Karzai and the government
with him thinks setting a woman free from ten years of prison, where she
was placed for being a victim of rape, just so that they could force her
to marry the relative who raped her; where is the justice in this? What
is the point to sending billions of dollars worth of support for
Afghanistan when we can't do more to help the poor women and children in
their nation. We look past this nation's corruption and act as if we
believe our weapons and money can fix their nation... Are our leaders'
complete fools? If we allow this twisted sense of justice in their
nation; this corruption, then there is no amount of money that can help
them. We need to cease the funding towards such corrupt nations, for
this is not being in the gray area, this is being in the shadow; for we
are inhibiting their progress by allowing their injustice, and then
paying them while doing this. We should use this money to help our own
nation instead, where we have more of a hope in taking care of our women
and children.
Allowing freedom of religion in our nation is a grand gift bestowed to
us. But when we fail to recognize the difference between a dangerous
ideology and a religion we hurt our people and our nation. Just like we
wouldn't allow a Christian cult where children are married to adults, or
allow Pastors' to have several wives who are under age, neither should
we allow an Islamic ideology that teaches true Islam is one where one
condones the killing of an Infidel; any non-believer. Yet as crazy as it
may sound one of the fasted spreading ideologies of Islam in our nation
is one inspired by the book titled "Milestones". This book was the
number one inspiration for the leaders of the Taliban, Al Qaida, and the
Haqani Network... And we have the audacity to wonder where our recent
homegrown terrorists came from.
When did we start believing that providing support or freedom to those
who wish the American people harm is being in the gray area? This is
wrong, period. How is this misunderstood?
Being tolerable of one's rights, does not mean we should ignore the
obvious threats. In Afghanistan they will arrest a woman for being
raped, and she may even be killed before this can happen. Supporting a
government who allows this, and calls this justice is just as bad as
allowing the same injustice in our own nation.
Doing the right thing is usually not easy, and people may suffer, but
this doesn't mean we have a right to look the other way when the wrong
thing is happening... This makes us cowards and no better than the
perpetrators of the crime we choose to ignore. Contrarily after the
crime has taken place right in front of us our leaders shake the
perpetrators hand and then give them money and support.
We are no longer justified when it comes to our alliances with those who
contradict and despise our nation's liberty. We are no longer in a gray
area, but instead we've become an accomplice to their injustices.
